Craniosacral Therapy
A gentle, non-invasive treatment designed to support the body’s natural ability to settle tension and restore balance within the nervous system.
Craniosacral therapy focuses on the subtle movement of the craniosacral system, the membranes and fluid surrounding the brain and spinal cord. Using light, precise touch, the therapist works with the soft tissues of the head, spine and pelvis to help release restrictions and encourage relaxation throughout the body.
Although the pressure used is very light, the effects can be deeply calming and restorative.
During treatment, gentle contact is maintained at specific areas of the body while the therapist assesses and responds to subtle changes in tissue tension and movement.
Some clients notice sensations such as warmth, small muscular responses or a sense of deep relaxation as the body settles. Others simply experience a quiet, meditative state during the session.
Craniosacral therapy is designed to be calming, supportive and respectful of the body’s natural rhythms.
Craniosacral therapy may be helpful for clients experiencing:
- Stress and nervous system fatigue
- Persistent tension in the head, neck or spine
- Headaches related to muscular or postural strain
- Difficulty relaxing or switching off
- Sleep disturbance
- Generalised tension and fatigue

Suitable For
Craniosacral therapy is a very gentle technique that involves releasing restrictions in the soft tissues and fluids surrounding the craniosacral system of the body (head, spine, pelvis). Working to decompress and support natural fluid movement in these areas often has a flow-on effect of allowing the body to ‘unwind’ itself from tension and muscle restriction.
Although superficially you may feel only gentle hands placed on your body, you may start to feel warmth in your body from increased blood flow due to release of tissues, small twitches
or movements as your body starts to unwind. These may not always occur in the areas of the body being directly worked on.
Craniosacral therapy may also have the effect of inducing a meditative mental state, and as such may reduce stress and improve sleep along with other physiological benefits.
