Manual Lymphatic Drainage
Gentle and methodical, manual lymphatic drainage supports the natural movement of lymphatic fluid through the body’s lymphatic system. Using light, rhythmic techniques, the treatment encourages fluid circulation and may assist with reducing mild swelling and feelings of heaviness.
Unlike traditional massage, manual lymphatic drainage does not involve deep pressure or muscular manipulation. Instead, the focus is on stimulating superficial lymphatic pathways with precise, controlled movements that follow the body’s natural drainage patterns.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage uses light, rhythmic strokes to encourage the natural function of the lymphatic system. Unlike traditional massage, MLD does not involve deep pressure or muscular manipulation.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage may assist with:
- Mild fluid retention or swelling
- Post-surgical swelling where appropriate and medically cleared
- Feelings of heaviness or congestion in the limbs
Text
- Early-stage or medically managed lymphoedema under appropriate guidance
- Swelling following cancer treatment where manual lymphatic drainage has been recommended
Treatment is delivered using precise, structured movements that follow recognised lymphatic pathways.
Important Considerations
Manual lymphatic drainage is a specialised treatment and may not be suitable in all situations. Clients with diagnosed lymphoedema, recent surgery, complex medical conditions, or unexplained swelling should seek medical guidance before treatment.
Your therapist will discuss your health history at the start of the appointment and may modify or postpone treatment where appropriate to ensure safe care.
Your health and safety are important to us.
